Chapter 2: Logging in to the Adders' Web Site

Before you can work in iVia, it is necessary to log in. Every adder has an account on the iVia server, created by an administrator.

Logging in

To log in to iVia, visit the iVia Adders' Web site using your web browser. Your administrator will give you the URL of the main menu. On INFOMINE, for example, it is:

http://infomine.ucr.edu/adders

When you visit the Adders Web site, you will be prompted for your user name and password, which should have been given to you by the administrator who created your account.

The first time you log in

The first time you log in, you will be prompted for your "public" information through the screen shown below. You should enter your full name, email address, and phone number in the field provided. This information will be visible to other Adders; general members of the public will see only your name and institutional affiliation.

Once you fill in the requested details you will be forwarded to the Adders' Homepage. On subsequent visits, you will be directed straight to the Adders' Homepage, which is discussed in detail in Chapter 3: The Adders' Homepage.
